Others get the FITNESS BUG!
I never realised the power of a) fitness and/or b) a personal trainer. I’ve always loved exercise and being active, in fact I’m not sure I know how to relax even! However, I thought I was the minority. I thought wanting to exercise daily – sometimes twice daily – was only prevalent to a few. I thought wanting to exercise regardless of weather conditions and injuries (netball ones…Jaim!) was a bug unique to me.
How I’ve been proven wrong.
Through my time as a personal trainer I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing the fitness bug throughout my group of clients. I recall one in particular. Hayley arrived at her first PT session with a friend who’d seemingly dragged her along. At the beginning of the session she said, “Just so you know, I’m not the committed type”.
I was sure she wasn’t referring to marital status, rather, her passion and motivation to workout. They didn’t teach us how to combat objections like this one very well at Fitness School. So I replied… “Hmm, a few of my clients pay for a month up front which helps them…” To that, I got a “Nup, money isn’t an issue, that won’t help – I’m just not motivated.” I couldn’t let this get the better of me. I couldn’t stand there speechless and dumbfound that I’d just been told nothing would motivate her to train. We, as personal trainers, are motivators!!
They say actions speak louder than words. And that they do. After Hayley’s’ first session, naturally, she was sore for days and I wondered if I’d ever see her at another Emergy session again. To my surprise, Hayley decided to join the Emergy Fitters for a bout of bootcamp on the Saturday following her PT session. At the end of that, she approached me and said… “I’ve just paid for 4 PT sessions and a month of bootcamps up front. And I’m considering a second PT session a week.”
WHAAAT! I was super excited I was starting to see the bug being spread! Hayley is now a regular client of mine who trains with Emergy a few times a week – and loves it! We’re proud of her :)

NOTE: Names have been changed to protect the identity of the fitness bug. However, “Hayley” you know who you are :)
